WHY?

P1081391
Here I thought cartoons were just making fun of life.  They are so outrageous they make us  laugh but I certainly do not take them seriously.  Christianity has been made fun of ever since Eve listened to the snake and talked Adam into biting into the apple.

Why are there more and more violent acts of terrorism?

It would be nice if we could all live our simple little lives doing the best we can with what we have.  Dad and I had a quiet morning after I took Haiti for a walk.  The air was very damp and yes it can make you feel chilled even when it is not so cold.

Carol dropped by to brighten up our morning.  They are having lots of trips back and forth to the stars trying to find the right parts etc.  Dad went in again to give them a hand.  Later there was a call Ben was playing soccer in White Rock and that would have been great to be able to go to see them all and the game too of course.  Wisdom prevail so they came here after the game which evidently Ben was outstanding as goalie and drew the attention of some scouters.

Theresa came over with Morgan and Ben and we shared a light lunch that Kim produced.

One thing I do know for certain is religion attracts bad people like flies to honey.  It has the potential to abuse people and corrupt their thoughts with crazy ideas.  I think also ignorance does at times produce crude humor which mocks what others consider to be sacred but to resort to violence is evil.
Then they use religion to justify their actions.  What may look like defeat today may turn into a victory for those who will be carrying on.

It is important for us not to lose heart  or stop believing in goodness.

Day by day it is a challenge to keep the seeds of hope alive in our hearts for the coming of spring!

WHOA NELLIE

Whoa The old gray mare ain’t what she used to me.  Time to rest a bit.
P1081388

Yes we have had several days of fog.  Miserable stuff.

And yet there is an artistic beauty in  the bare branches reaching for the sky.  I find winter a season of waiting.  Waiting for the sun to wake me up and get busy on its journey across the sky.
Waiting for the windy stormy days to pass and also the days of heavy rain that seem to soak through no matter what we wear.

It is a time of waiting for the long days of darkness to pass.  A time of contemplation and solitude broken by family celebrations. The ground is frozen hard and cold and yet there is the promise of new life waiting for us.

Winter silence teaches us to listen in the stillness.  Barren trees allow the light to shine through.  Frosty mornings and cold winter nights are  a challenge physically and spiritually.  Children laughing and playing in the snow remind us of our own happy days of childhood.  Our neighbors come over when it snows to shovel our driveway and we feel so blessed.

Waiting for good health and energy to return after fighting a nose that runs continually  (dad) and a cough that keeps returning  (me)reminds me to be patient with my body.    Sometimes plans we make do not work out like  yesterday I was not feeling up to going to Carols and Pantelis  with dad and he came home early with an upset tummie.

Wishing I could be more helpful. . . .

Hoping I never lose a sense of wonder. . . .

Thankful for the help and support of family so busy with their activities~

Thankful we do not have to face the cruel harsh realities of prairie winters!  What we do have to face is that we are in the winter season of our lives and accept changes as challenges that will bring a new different growth.
P1081389

P1081393Yes  there is still beauty in the artistic barrenness of the trees reaching for the skies on a foggy day.
There is beauty in this flower that has kept on blooming.
There is beauty in our love for each other.

ASSUMPTIONS

P1061387
Caught her red handed with her hand on the door nob escaping for the evening on Tuesday, fighting a sore throat and a cough and tiredness.  She still has a cough and it sounds a little worse but she has energy and a happy smile and reading to do last night for her literature class.

That does not seem to work for me anymore I just have to rest.
Kim was up early on Thursday as she has an early class.  I went for a short walk which I do like the runners do,  that is you go a little faster and then you go a little slower.  I watch them as they pass me by and they are all so friendly and give me a wave and a smile.  I got all enthused and started going even faster and then they speeded up because they sure would not want me to pass them.

Then went visiting.  It was very quiet there as colds and flu is going around and most people where in their rooms.  There were no happy activities which made it a sad place.  Jim was about the same.  Dad drove me and said hello too.  Our friend Joyce was sick too so she was not very happy.  Sometimes they close the doors and say no visitors.

Had a nice chat on the phone with Mary.

I now understand how over the years we have made assumptions.

That the sun revolves around the earth (I glad our earth keeps moving), or that volcanoes were caused by a Angry God, or that canyons were caused by natural causes.  I am thankful that I do not have to live in fear of God who probably knows far too much about me.  I think.

We are even starting to learn how our brains work.

The question that we base our assumptions on is, can everything ultimately be explained without any supernatural causes, magical/mythical, divine causes?  I still like to be open to the supernatural and mystical.  Why not?

WEIRD

P1061366
We are all feeling better and ready to start learning again or at least Kim is.

Still a few Christmas lights shining in the darkness on the house next door to us.  I really like them as they look like bright little stars that have come to earth to give us hope.

We do seem to live in an unpredictable universe.   Many unanswerable questions.   Why do the teams in last place beat the teams in first place?  Why does the weather man or woman (to me man means both men and women, a personality or a human being)) with all their degrees and training and charts often fail to predict the right weather?    Where is our soul?  What is it?

Science dose an excellent job in telling me why I do not have a tail, but it cannot explain why it just fell off or maybe it will grow again.  We know when Haiti is happy she wags her furiously.  May it is better we do not have tails in case I say I was happy to see some one (unlikely) but my tail would give me away if it was not wagging.

Science keeps breaking things down into smaller and smaller particles and because of this the atom bomb was created.  Something I sincerely wish had not happened.  Every story on T.V. seems to have people running around with guns.  Another loud applause for science.

Yes science has done some amazing things and is very important in our world.  Our weird wonderful world far to complex to be understood.

Science has not been able to find the soul.   I believe that when I am talking about God I am speaking about the soul who lives within each one of us.  The soul needs light and love and faith to keep it alive but too often within us there is hate and bitterness and anger and unforgiveness  that dims the light.

Does everything we think we know have to be proven intellectually?.

THE SHUFFLE

P1061383Yes I shuffe rather than walk but it feels good to be outside.  I figure I  can hire myself out to be a funeral walker and I would set the exact proper  pace!  Walking show is not easy, and can annoyed most people who are in a hurry but they should learn to be compassionate.  We never think that we will get old but it may happen.

I was thinking today how fortunate to be able to have good days and moments when you feel young!  I had a much better day today.

The picture is a reflection in a puddle. What you are seeing is the branches in the tree above. I have fun taking crazy pictures with my camera.

Ben and Morgan Had a snow day today so that meant no school.

P1061368Both dad and Kim are fighting the "bug".  Kim has a sore throat and so does dad.  I am praying they do not start coughing with a cough that exhausts you like the one I had.   Kim insists she is fine and went out for supper with a friend last night.  I can just vaguely remember doing stupid things when I was young!

I am planning on going to our U.C.W. meeting to-day.

Hearing another story about a woman in Afghanistan I am reminded how grateful I am to be free and not to have to live in fear,

THE MISBEHAVING BUG!

P1051364
I had a wonderful morning.  Food started tasting like food again.
It was like a real miracle I felt so good.  Ready to go for a good walk but the rain was coming down in great sheets.  I will be good and wait awhile as I am trying not to worry dad.
There is always lots to do so and dad and I and Kim did some cleaning in the kitchen.  The tupper wear had been thrown in and one of the draws and the right lid never seemed to be there  when I wanted it.
Dad went off to the store, yes, he was running out of cookies but he said he was going for coffee.  Kim and I just looked at each other and raised our eyes.
The rain stopped and Kim and Haiti went for a walk and I did too,
We were all ready for a delicious supper cooked by the head cheff,  I took one bite then the little bug hiding somewhere inside me objected and I started coughing very hard and there was no way I was
going to be able to eat.

So those nasty little critters had me fooled.  But I am doing better this morning and may even go shopping.

Just like the Canada Russia game.  It looked like a sure thing at first.  Canada looked so far ahead and then Russia started catching up

FAITH AND PRAYER

P1041355

Prayer is the energy that connects me to God.  It is like this small stream at Carol and Panteli’s that
that one can barely see as you drive across the road but it is there.  I cannot see God but I know he is there.  Call him she if you prefer.  Wisdom is "she" in scripture!
 .P1041345
Dad drives me over to the park so Haiti and I can walk around.  The quiet little snow flakes fall all around us.  We are the only ones there.
P1041350
Carol tired and worn out is finally in her new home.  Panteli is back getting more stuff.
P1041352
A little start for their garden.  We take her out for a bowl of soup.  She is working on the kitchen.  Lots of empty boxes around.  A good time to give away or throw away anything you have not used for years.  I am trying to do more of that.  Books are my stumbling blocks.

Signs of spring.

Came home from Carol’s and had a rest and a phone call from Ken.  A surprise because he was at work.

Tyler and Aislinn in Jasper.

Kim home from Seattle and out in the rain playing soccer.

I am sure I have bronchitis which may hang around for awhile, or in may be gone to-morrow!

"If one has courage combined with wisdom nothing can dim the light which shines from within."
