THE STORY TELLER

W gather rogether to have our group picture after a declicious supper with barbecus salmon and pumpkinpie and corn on the cob and salad. It is always good to have Shelly joun us.  I would have loved to talk with her more as she is learning about pain control at Langara, with yoga.

After supper Hamlet started to tell the story of Jesus and all the trials he had to go through before his conviction.

Jesus had been taken capture in the garden where he was betrayed by Judas.

Jesus was brought before Annas and questioned.  Jesus was spat upon and struck and beater.Next he was brought to Pilate who could condemn him to a death on a cross.  Pilate did not want to do this but wanted to set him free.  His wife had warned him not to crucify him.  He took him out before the crowd  to ask for a prisoner to be released.  The crowd choose Barabbas.

Jesus was sent  back to Herod where a purple rob was put on him and a crown of thorns.

Jesus was sent back to Herod.  He was flogged and sent to be crucified.

A heavy cross was put on his back but he stumbled and fell and Simone the Syrian was called upon to carry it for him.

Hamlet did a good job.  I had to re read it this morning to refresh my memory.

He asked why the Jews were so persecuted over the centuries.

They had angered other religions because they believed in one God.

Wars are till being fought over whose territory Israel belongs too.

A sad Eastern morning as the news reports 3 churches and 3 hotels rwere bombed bombed in Sri Lanka,  At least 200 killed and 200 more wounded,  Some extreme group targeting tourists and Christians.

We ask Why?

Why was Jesus crucified?
He came as a light to show us a peaceful way.
Those in power plotted to have him killed.

Why do good people suffer?

We live in a violet world where there is hatred and cruelty.

Off to church to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus who offers us New Life.

Kim says Hamlet learned it from comic books.
