REVISITED

A dull and chilly morning.

I spent the morning putting some fertilizer around the yard and planting seeds.  Dad took off on his bike to ride around the Watershed forest.  The battery has been cutting out which makes the bike too heavy to cycle and yesterday it quit.  He had a very tiring journey home the last few blocks.  A new battery is now essential.

We had planned to visit an old friend from church, Doug, and an old friend from dad's work, Terry.  They are in the same Care Home.  Doug was not well enough for a visit so we post phoned it for next week.

We did revisit Ladner and had fish and chips at the pub. and stopped at the library and I added a few bore books to pile up here and there.

Arriving home we were cheered up to hear the voices of Carol and Kim on the phone asking us for supper.  Our energy was spent but we would have loved to go.  I was mixed up on when Carol would be back from Boston.  It was Tuesday evening.

We were sorry to hear that Rick is still having a lot of pain with his abscessed tooth.  Finally step will not be performed until June 21, so he is on Tylenol 3's till then.  Very painful time for him.

Home at last we watched an exciting hockey game.  We are cheering for the Blue's who won in the last very exciting moments of the game when Boston neatly sored to even the score.

The day ended as we revisited the beaches of Normandy and looked into the faces of all the old soldiers who fought so barely.  Seeing the tragedy of all who were killed as they bravely jumped from their boats into the water into gun fire that kill so many of their buddies.

Brave men who fought for our freedom and we remember their sacrifices.

Sadly we live in a world where there is still the tragedy of war and injustice,  poverty and illness.

We can all agree that meaning is always having to do with love and memories happy or sad but they are now apart of who we have become.

Investing in a new battery on Dad's bike that stays charged would be a worthwhile investment.

Seeds are wonderful things. Gardening is a very rewarding thing.

The pain in my jaw/neck/ear seems always worse in the evening than in the daytime. I think I might have to more T-3 before the second drill date.

I am enjoying Hearbeat from the beginning as it is fun watching the Gina character go from basically a teenager to the grown woman/mother we know she will become much later. It was nice seeing the first episode with the David character in it. Another 17 years or so before we get back to the "end" again! Ha ha.

I will be down for the baby shower for Mandy in July.

I am off to Winnipeg for a business meeting in the last week of June (just in time for the mosquitoes!) . Hopefully all the dental stuff will be fully stabilized by then! But I'm sure I'll have some painkillers with me, in any event.

I've got what looks like a good new book but, like you, it is now in the pile of the other good books I really should be reading.

Love,

Rick

We have been cheering on Boston and i was disappointed that they seem to be unraveling at the seam. Sucks that Chara was hurt so bad with a broken jaw. But here is to an exciting game on Sunday. We also watched some of the basketball game last night. Very exciting for out Toronto Raptors. A first for them!
Glad the sunshine is here today early Saturday morning. And hoping it lasts until the afternoon as we are doing an outdoor walk at Laurier Park for the reyu facility that helps rehab ppl with spinal cord injuries and much more. My cousins little boy is a client and has seen tremendous results from their therapies. So today we walk for a very special little boy. It's a run, walk or roll event for everyone!
