EXCUSES

We were looking forward to having supper with Carol and Panteli.
Haiti was very excited to see us and came running out to see us when she heard the car arrive.
Kim was away on cat duty at Sandra and Randy's home.

I kept thinking of excuses to put off putting my hearing aids in. I know it will take a while to get use to them.

I like it quiet in the morning.

Then I was going to vacuum and then cut the lawn so would not need them in then.

Then I ran out of excuses plus I want to try them out when we visited Carol and Panteli.

Ben came home a little later and we caught up on his soccer news.  A very exciting time.  It was too bad Ben was kicked and experienced an injury to his upper leg.  It will need time to heal and lots of ice.

Every day has it's challenges for each one of us.

I am finding it harder to write so may not write as often as I have been doing.

So did you get them put in? We had a long day of driving. There was an accident just out of Nanaimo and it was a complete stop and then again when there was road work near Tofino.
just got a quick walk in on the beach before it got dark. There were lots of surfers out in the water even though the sun had gone down. I had made turkey curry before we left in the morning so we just heated that up and made some rice and had a nice wind down. We will get out and explore more today.

Hi Beth! I finally found some time to write to you. My life has been so busy lately that I don't get a chance to sit down at the computer much.

It is nice to catch up on your blog. You do such an amazing job of writing daily. That takes a lot of dedication. Much like practicing the piano or Tai Chi...it needs to be done regularly and getting into a routine makes it easier.

It is nice to hear that Sandra and Randy are having a vacation together and it is at my favourite place in the world! I do miss our visits there. Ken and I are talking about going out to Parksville and area. He loves the west coast and is likes kayaking. He kayaks often here at the beach and usually fishes too. He is going to teach me how in the spring.

We were in Winnipeg yesterday and the ride in was a scary one...it had snowed just a bit overnight and it froze on the pavement and made for glare ice...the car was wandering on the ice and was difficult for me to control. There is something wrong, likely a broken shock. I must take it in to the garage. coming home the ice was gone, thankfully.

Where are you walking Beth? In the park? Or around your neighbourhood?
We walk on Ken's 6 acres of original forest and it is so lovely. I will email you some photos. The leaves crunch underfoot and the colours are outstanding...the golds and reds against the dark fir trees.
It is a nice day today and we will go for another 'forest bathing' walk. they are so healing. We walk slowly and with purpose..all the senses are intensified.
One can hear the smallest movement in the forest and the colours are so bold. We stop and look at the lichen and mosses and we can smell the fresh scent of the balsam trees.
Forest bathing is an ancient chinese art.

I have an unusual amount of commission pieces to paint as well and they are coming along well. Just finished one and another is almost finished. The purchaser lives in Denver Colorado and I have to ship it there.
I have another one to do as well and it is usual. It is a label for a private collection of wine. The clients have a winery in Napa Valley but they also have a much loved cottage here. So I have incorporate Victoria Beach into the design of the label. I will receive one bottle of wine as well as the cost of creating the piece and apparently it is a very pricey wine. It is fun meeting with them and planning what to do.

I am glad to hear that you and Larry are trying out hearing aids. I have quite a few friends who have them and they really like them. Apparently it takes time to get adjusted.

That is a lovely photo of Haiti. There is nothing like the love of a dog.

Max, my little guy is failing with the diabetes he has. He is very thin and has a skin infection with sores all over his little body. I am taking him into the vets on Monday for a glucose check and to see the vet. it is really sad to see him deteriorate...but what can one do? Just keep him as well as I can I guess.

Well it is almost lunch time and I am making my son lunch. He is working nearby...so I had better run..

Love to you both and I will try and write more often,

Nancy

Yes some times finding time to write or even think can be hard.

Going out to lunch with a friend today,
my hearing aids are in.
