LEAVING

People come and go in our lives and I feel sad but at the same time happy. especially when there is a good reason. We enjoyed our evening out together.

Yesterday morning we were off to church and had a restful afternoon as we were going out to our group meeting in the evening,  We knew there would be cake as four people all had birthdays.  We are taking a brake from our watching a video and our going to discuss the articles Douglas Todd writes in the paper.  Although he is the religion editor he writes on all different facts of life.  He is very reasonable and seems to take in both sides.

It is interesting in my study of Mark that Jesus is now telling his disciples he is going to be leaving them.  At this point they have invested their lives in his mission and have discovered the deepest meaning of love in his messages and his compassion for others.  They had learned to over come fear
and to live simply in a state of trust and love.

I have learned who I am as I have experienced my life knowing I need to be loved and to be loving.

Life gives to us but also takes from us.  Jesus now wants them to know that even death cannot separate them and this is the greatest power we have to over come fear.

The religious life catches our interest when we allow our hearts to be open and our willing to see truth in everyday experiences.  The mind is attracted to that which is rational and reasonable but life is unpredictable.  So our faith includes reason but also goes beyond.

I am not sure I am making any sense.  Rational discussion will not always give us answers nor will rigid belief.

Time to open dad's basket!
