RAINDROPS

Off to watch Ben's  semi final soccer game.
Early morning heavy rain and heavy traffic.

Both of us are feeling okay.

We are excited and happy for Ben.  A big game.

We drive through the area of Kerrisdale  with it's fascinating variety of stores and coffee shops.  A wonderful area just to spend a day walking
around.

We arrive at the parking lot just as Carol is leaving the lot to watch the game.

It is pay parking which at first we ignore but then with the help of Morgan's change we put the money in for a hour parking.

The game is out by U.B.C.
We arrive to  umbrella lined fence watchers.
What an exciting game as both teams are excellent.
Ben does one of his amazing kicks.
                                          The Cheerleaders

                                          A brave watcher.

The game was tied 1 to 1 for a long time and the other team were lucky to get the final goal.

Ben was the best goalie and a good sport shaking off the bad bounce.

There are a lot of things in life we cannot control.

"Being comfortable with uncertainty opens us up to all possibilities."    -Anita Moorjani

On the way home we were forced to the side of the road by a speeding car cutting in front of us.
It shook me up and I am thankful dad is such a good driver.

I want to snuggle into a warm bed and read a good book and then if the rain stops go for a walk.

Crossing the street to put money in the ticket taker.

Jane phoned about a course at Narramata on journaling and art.
It would be wonderful but I decide against joining her.

BRRRRR it looks like a late fall day, with jackets and brollys. You were brave going out in that weather to watch the soccer game. You and Larry are so supportive and loving to your family. Good job, Ben....you can't win them all!

In contrast to west coast weather, we were humid and hot here, with thunderstorms rolling through all night. Typical June weather. June is our wettest month and it has been true to it's calling this year. The plants and grass are growing like crazy.

Carl was moved from intensive care to a ward yesterday, finally. He still has the central line and all the other tubes, but he is talking better now and more alert. He really has enjoyed the cell phone I took him Friday...calling me at 7am this morning to see what time the Blue Jays play today! HAHA. I ordered a Television for him yesterday. Gosh they sure are expensive, but well worth it for him....he was getting depressed being in there so long. Family are going today to visit him and I will go tomorrow. I will go early, visit and go to Mass at 11:30 in the chapel.

St. Boniface Hospital was founded by the Grey Nuns in the late 1800's in the French district of Winnipeg. It still is quite French, which I love. Often the first greeting is in French and I can still communicate in French, but slowly!

Years ago most of the nurses were nursing sisters....but these days there are none, but they still have a firm hand in the management.
I find the hospital much more compassionate than the other large hospitals in Winnipeg. My Father was on their board many years ago. Quite a history. They have an art gallery, which is a haven to go and tour and feel the silence and the ambience.

Well off to the studio to work on framing...I have been dragging my feet and the show is opening in a week and a half...EEEEEK!

A special thank-you to Jane for her kind comments and wishes for Carl and I as we go through trying times.

Of course a huge thank-you to you too, Beth for the same...prayers and kind comments. They are heartfelt.

Love, Nancy
