RESTORATION

Sunday turned out to be a busy place on our street yesterday.  I did my morning walk around the neighborhood collecting discarded litter thrown down on the street or tangled in a bramble bush.  I was able to pick up three cans for my collection to give to the groups that come collecting in the fall.

Dad started a big job of trimming our hedge, a job partly done by the fellow who came to our door but only did half a job.  It is a big job and needs to be restored every year.

A big machine arrived because they are going to put a light on our path to the Safeway.  It is dangerously dark to walk through at night.

The man who owns the vacant house across the way arrived to cut the grass.  He bought the house for his son who has not so far moved in.  Does that mean he is still living at home?

As I thought about the words I was saying in church I was reminded that to be a Christian is to be a restoring presence in this word, where many people are hurting and wounded and need a helping hand or a comforting word.  Communion was served with the words "the bread of life" and "the cup of blessing".
Restoring grace and strength to those who humbly receive the gifts of the spirit of Jesus

Carrying on the healing and forgiving work of Jesus in  loving kindness, each in our small way.

It's funny to read about all of the autumn changes going on back home because there is no obvious change here in Grand Cayman, except the days are getting shorter with less sunlight, but really, what's the difference between 98 degrees and 89 degrees for an avereage daytime high!?

It was a busy day for me too as we had the baby shower at our house, unfortunately Randy had worked the graveyard shift and was trying to sleep through it.

Comforting words Beth. I still have not gone back to church...thinking of trying out a couple of others, but the closest one is 25 minutes away. I miss the regular service and think it is ridiculous that they don't believe in the resurrection of Christ yet celebrate his resurrection at Easter. Of course not everyone is a non believer...but our current minister has brought in a lot of this "new way of thinking stuff" and omits things like the apostles' creed. Your spiritual messages and caring, helping nature make it such a pleasure to read your blog. You light the way with your lamp!
