NATIONAL ABORIGINAL DAY

The joy of being a grandparent radiates from Carol and Panteli. A moment captured with Carol and Morgan
June 21 we celebrated Oliver's and Kim's birthday along with Father's Day.
June 21 was chosen to be the day to celebrate the First Nations, Inuit and Metis people. They each have their own distinct heritage, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs. June 21 is also the summer solistic, the longest day of the year.

I am reading "Our Story" a collection of stories of personal experiences and historical events and spiritual myths and stories.
when I learn the meaning of the totem pole with it's depiction of a frog, a salmon, a wolf and an eagle that speaks of the victory of the spirit and inner strength.

Their creation story explains why "we call the earth our mother,
the moon our grandmother, the sun our elder brother,
and the thunder our grandfather."

"It explains why we spend so much time giving thanks in our long houses and in our daily get-togethers. It gives us comfort, security and a sense of purpose. We take its teachings to be the guiding light in how we conduct our lives."

As they gather to celebrate they first recite a prayer giving thanks for all of creation.

"So first of all, let us put our minds together as one and give greetings to all the peoples of the earth. And let us give thanks for all the people gathered here, that all have arrived safely, that we are all of peace and of good mind.

Let us remember those who could not be here because they are sick, and let us pray that they quickly regain their health.

Let us remember as well and thank those who help us keep our language and traditions alive."
I have an itchy rash on my arm and my face is dry and itchy. I am worried about the shingles because the itch is one of the first signs; but it is so hard to go to the doctor but I know dad will make me go. Right now he has taken the car in to be fixed and the roofers are here and we thought we may drive out to Theres's to get childrens clothes for Oak Ave Church because they are desperate for clothes. I am off for a short walk on another cool day.
