MOTIVES

Thursday night a bog moon shining on our walk way to the Stores. Taken from my bedroom window.
Friday is a day of entering into the grief and tragedy, shame and betrayal as we relive the death of Jesus.  We are reminded of the violence and injustice in this world.

Our trees and shrubs starting to bloom.  I love seeing this as I come out my door each morning and yes it is light now.

This is the church where the Good Friday service was held.  The music was inspiring as the four churches combined to make a huge choir.  The scripture was re-enacted and the message that Jesus died for the whole world, all the broken and suffering ones, came across in word and pictures on the over-head.  We all sang "The Love That Clothes Itself in Light"/

We tell our selves we live in the present moment each day but this is really an illusion. The past is always with us as the thoughts and worries of the future.  This gives us the motives for the decisions we make each day.  The people who came to this service felt it was important for us to remember and reflect not only on the sacrifice of Jesus but our parents and our family all who have made sacrifices for us.  If we think of Good being Holy then Good Friday is a good name for the day.

I came home and read in the paper the words that song writer Bruce Cockborn has written about the birth and death of Jesus.

"Not strict doctrine, harsh politics or rigid morality, which is in his one song titled he refers to as The Gospel of Bondage.  Instead he finds in Jesus forgiveness-and the freedom to be yourself, vulnerable and courageous."   Douglas Todd The Vancouver Sun.

Yes this is the holiest time for Christians and I understand for other religions as well.

Yes it is a day of darkness, a day of shadows, when all the voices that shout at Jesus are condemning, harsh and full of hate.  Yes evil drowned out the love and compassion that had been spoken in all Jesus did and said and the motive was to regain control and power.

What stops us from committing crimes?  Is it because we may get caught?  Is it because we will bring dishonor on our family?  Or is it because we do not want to cause hurt to another.

Saturday I hope to sleep in because I want to work in the garden and not have to stop for a nap and to be able to keep my eyes open after 8.

Here it is Saturday morning and I guess 6 is sleeping in.  It will be a busy day for dad and I in the front garden.  Neither of our ponds are working so when it gets warmer dad will clean out the pump.

The death of Christ had a motive beyond our understanding
but from his death forgiveness  and redemption flow.
