THE BRAIN

Religion and spiritual intelligance should go together but too often they don't.
P3120145
"Spiritual intelligence allows people to be creative, to explore new possibilities, to change the rules and alter situations, while religion is frequently associated with a rigid statuesque , with formality, narrow mindedness and traditionalism."  -Dave Tomlinson

The dark part is "God" that I acknowledge is something greater than myself.   Neurological research has discovered this new part of the brain, actually hard-wired into us.  This is a neutral mass dedicated to ask the fundamental questions about the meaning of our existence and the search for answers.  Spiritual intelligence.

"Spiritual intelligence has no necessary connection with religion and operates quite independently of religious beliefs, though it has massive bearing on how we interpret our beliefs.  There is logical intelligence, multiple intelligences like linguistic, musical, or physical intelligence.  Added to that by Daniel Goleman in 1990 showed there was emotional intelligence (EQ) which provides awareness of other peoples feelings as well as our own.

IQ remains fairly static but EQ can be cultivated and developed.  Neurological research suggests the brain possess a third basic intelligence and it gives deep meaning, fundamental values and abiding sense of purpose to our lives.  This is called SQ, by Danah Zohar and Ian Marshall leading researchers in this field.  It also can be cultivated and nurtured.  Some channel their spiritual intelligence through a religious tradition, other's don't."

"Spiritual intelligence is thinking with the soul."  -Dave Tomlinson.

I was taught if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all But I now think it may be smarter to believe it is not so much what you say but how you say it.

Anyway after my three walks with myself, with Gundy and with Mary and dad I was feeling a little droopy about going to the St. Patrick Day tea at Colebrook Church.  I am glad dad and I went after all.  Lots of people dressed in green finery and also the tables decorated with shamrocks and little green men.  Lots of fun and happy friends!

That's a good quotation Mom. The problem with religion is that it gets caught up with doctrine/rules.

I was driving to work early this week in the dark and there was a walker out on the highway wearing one of those reflecting belts like the one I got you. And, guess what, I could see this person really well! (hint, hint)

Love,

Rick

Very interesting ideas re various kinds of intelligence. and also the part of the brain hard wired for God. shown as the 'dark'area l would prefer it to be the area of light but there will always be areas of mystery or maybe just dazzling light that are beyond our human comprehension. l was so pleaased to see both you and Larry at the St, Patrick's day tea . l thought it was fun too and nice to see people having a good time! Hope you enjoy your family parties today. Love, Jane

Also enjoyed the quote. Lots of fond memories of colebrook church. I met a girl a couple days ago Jennifer Cameron, who was staying at the same hostel as me who lives a couple blocks away from Colebrook church. Small world
