CLOSER

"Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone
-we find it with another." - Thomas Merton

Signs of spring welcome me on my walk.  I stop and look closer at the beauty displayed.
Yes I smell the flowers too.  The warmth of the sun has conquored the slight chill that has been in the air until now.    Happy Birthday Randy and thanks for all you do for us.  Goood luck in your test Sandra.

When dad and I go to church together it brings us closer and being with our family and feeling close to each one of them is a blessing.  Easter church service is always a joyful celebration and renews our hope with the promise of new life.  We no longer need to be slaves of the past but have the freedom to continue to explore and discover not only is Christ risen but he is alive within us all.  Thus the creative energy that was in creation continues to bring us closer to our God.

After church we hurried over to Sandra and Randy's house (what a blessing they are to our family) as they continue to make an effort to keep us close and apart of each other's lives.  We had lunch out in the big back yard where the younger ones could play ball.  The dogs wanted to play too and they are so fortunate to have such a big place to run in.

Theresa and Mikie were there trying to recoup from a sleepless night with Morgan up at 2 o'clock looking for eggs.  She would have found them all before Ben was even awake.  It was a surprise to have Leah and Craig join us with their two little dogs and so pleased Leah has finished her course but still has an exam to write in a month.  I think I have this right.  I am often trying to listen to several conversations at once and miss some things.

We hear the sad news that Randy's mom's life is drawing to a close he will be visiting her soon back in Sarina.  She is the same age as me.

Carol and Pentali came after Carol had taken Haiti the dog for a huge walk up and down the thousand stairs that go to the beach.  What a challenge!  Oliver was the last to arrive and he has good news that he is getting on at the Coast Guard which he has been wanting to do.  One of his cousins is visiting on Salt Spring Island so they will have a lot to catch up on.

The gospels were written for people in desperate situations, people trying to find the meaning of existence, even as we are, coping with pain and difficult situations.  Their faith in the reality of a living Lord sustained them as it can do for each one of us today.

"The gospels were written to invite us into the Jesus experience of new life,
one not bounded by death;   and a new humanity, one that reaches toward transcendence." -Spong

It is nice to have a larger group again for family get togethers. Once Kimberly arrives we will be in full swing again. Tried to Skype Cameron in the morning but his computer was not working well. Skyped Stephen and Shawna while they made dinner. Anxious to here back about that house. Sandra
