SEARCHING

Sandra called to invite us to come to
River Road and have lunch with her.

We took a picture to check our heights,
I cannot believe that we are the same now.

Good picture of her and no I have not started dying my hair red.

Good to have a one on one visit.

When she phones I started searching for my wallet that I had removed out of my purse.

My search started in my purse and then in my pockets, then the laundry hamper, the close closet, under the bed and on top of it and in every room in the house.  My searching was fruitless and my anxiety rising.  I have been losing things all my life so you would think I would be used to it.

I took a breath and stopped and then remembered I had picked up some D.V.D's to take back
to the library after lunch and sure enough my wallet had been in my hand and was safe in the middle of them.  I had been considering visiting but had a rest instead and dad rode his bike over.

An article I was reading said most of us are in awe and wonder that Jesus calmed the storm after the disciples woke him up sleeping in the boat.  The amazing thing is that Jesus was able to sleep through the rough waves and frightening wind.

Worry is useless.  Worry saps our strength and confuses our mind.

Sometimes answers come to us after we stop searching and let Jesus still our storms!

Are you shrinking Beth or is Sandra still growing? Lovely photo of mom and daughter. So nice to be invited to the impromptu lunch. Do you usually end up ordering and salad for lunch? Sometimes I order an omelette without toast, just fruit. But it gets boring.

How old is Ben? My goodness, he has really grown the last few months...quite the handsome young man. He is so dedicated to soccer....I have a feeling he is going to be accepted in to the organization. Sure will be a big change for him, living with another family and going to school at a new school...but if he really is determined, it will happen! We are so excited for him and the family.

I had two days in Winnipeg, now catching up on thing that needed doing at home. It is a beautiful day, first day where it actually feels like spring. The weekend will bring lots of cottagers out because it is going to continue to be nice weather.

I tried to trade the car rental agency ....our older Toyota van for the brand new 2016 one I was driving...but they wouldn't bite. They asked me if there was anything they could do to make my experience renting a car with them, better! Well I told them and we had a good laugh...but they wouldnt bite! I wonder why! haha. We are thinking of trading the van for a smaller vehicle....we don't need a large van now. WE don't travel out to the coast anymore and Carl is retired so we aren't hauling things with it.

I wish Leah and Craig all the best in their move...I hope she takes it easy. So nice that everyone helps out! Makes it a lot easier for them.

The pelicans have arrived at VB....I watched them soaring over the house this morning...

Yesterday there was a large fire in the causeway that leads into VB. Someone had set the marsh on fire and it got out of control....I was coming home from Winnipeg and could see the smoke from 60 kms away. I called CArl at home to make sure all was OK. As I came to the fire, I could see a helicopter with a large bucket trying to save Tim FLooks house....it was surrounded with flames....the firefighters and helicopter saved it and finally got the fire out. Two water bombers came too, but only the bay is open on the lake and they couldn't scoop there...the lake is still covered in ice. The waterbombers flew low over our house and I waved like crazy to thank them for coming. They have saved the day a few times here.

It was fortunate that the winde was from the north and blowing the fire away from VB....it could have been disasterous. We have only one way out...the causeway because we are an island.

well my rest time is over, back to clean up the deck and BBQ...I think we can actually BBQ now, the snow is off the deck YAHOO!

Have a lovely evening,

Love, Nancy

Nancy what an exciting time and luckily Tim was saved.
Fire is such a dreadful thing and can get out of control so quickly.

Our little birds are back in the bird house again
and we do enjoy them.
Yes I am shrinking.

Isn't it the simple things in life that are the most enjoyable, Beth? Little birds arriving back home to their bird house, to start another brood? They are so much fun to watch...sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee...seeing them come and go with nesting material?

We have wrens who return each year. We have four bird houses and it is lots of fun watching them stuffing each house with grasses and twigs..flitting from house to house...until they finally decide which one will be theirs this year.

What kind of birds do you have in the bird house? Maybe it is wrens. I love their singing....but they start at the crack of dawn, which is about 5am right now. They haven't returned yet...but soon!

Love, Nancy

PS I am shrinking too! 2 1/2 inches, which was a surprise to me! I have a mild scoliosis of the spine and that along with aging is robbing me of my height! Soon my granddaughter will be taller than me and she isn't growing anymore. She is 22 and 5'5. I was 5' 8 1/2 ". Now 5'6".

Love Nancy
