We gathered on Good Friday to remember the life of a radical reformer named Jesus.
He started his ministry by declaring
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
He was accused of speaking blasphemy by telling and well fed the sick man his sins were forgiven. Only God can do that the Pharisees and teachers of the law declared.
He healed the shriveled hand of a man on the Sabbath and declared what is lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil?
He spoke against the rich, the well fed, the abusers and users, those with evil intentions in their hearts. Luke 6.
He warned his followers must deny themselves and be willing to take up the cross.
He welcome prostitutes and tax collectors and called the Pharisees and Sadducee's alse leaders and teachers. and thus condemned himself to die.
This was the man we were remembering; who had not only touched the lives of those in the scriptures but had also changed the lives of those present in the service. His life an inspiration!
A very meaningful service and dad and I were impressed. There was no heavy guilt trip although there was forgiveness.
After church Carol came over and helped me in the garden and I feel we got a lot done. Sandra has always been a good help too. She phoned to confirm about Sunday lunch. A barbecue at ?
