ADVERSITY

One person who knew a lot about adversity was Stompin Tom Connors.
He lived hand to mouth as a youngster begging on the streets from the age of 4.  He bought his first guitar at the age of 14 and picked up odd jibs as he wandered from town to town writing songs along the way.

He did so much to bring happiness to so many and he will be missed.

Thursday was a more productive day for us here sheltered from the rain and cold.  Dad did some work on the garage door, Panteli picked up some boxes and he and Carol took them to the apartment in the evening.  I went visiting at the Seniors Home and dad visited his cousin Eileen and they talked about family history.  Yes there have been some wild crazy things done in our families past.

Inside every adversity lies opportunity but not always in plain sight and sometimes only found by looking back.  I may not know where I am going but I know I am not alone.  God is here right now, in whatever adversity is in our path, and his energy keeps renewing us daily. 

The message from the cross is not one to make us feel guilty
 but Jesus revealing his compassion for all who suffer.  He understands and he is listening.

Comfort may not be a part of the plan for us but the grace dignity and an awareness of our own resilience may be!
