There is no avoidance of the dark realities of life-of pain and disappointment or evil- but our friend overcame these and so everyone now remembers her great joyous faith.
She had shared with us (our friend whose memorial service we attended) her grief and anger at God with the death of her son. Having good experiences makes trust in God easier but when the darkness of anguish engulfs our soul it is difficult to believe in the goodness and faithfulness of God.
Prayer fails to comfort and all our feelings are ones of emptiness and dryness.
The light does return when a voice reassures us we are not alone and the presence of divine love will not let us go. There comes a time for all of us when we realize that life is not a fairy story that ends happily ever after. The soul that has known great pain will also know great compassion knowing there are no easy answers to our cries for help. I think most of us have been there.
Each one of us at the service for Shirley Fowler were there because her death matter and maybe the minister would help us make sense of it. We leave with a feeling of thankfulness for knowing her and a new appreciation for all life.

For me it has to be the words of scripture that are alive with the mercy and grace of God's forgiveness and grace have supported me.
Our friend was one who was made stronger with an ability to love unconditionally. Her service was joyous in the knowledge that she had lived well, surrounded by family and friends and was ready to b released from life. She will live on as we remember her and keep her love in our hearts.
Love that will never let me go draws closer when we are ready to receive.

Thank you Kenny. Yes, we will do it today. I was wondering about lunch rather than dinner? I will call and see what your preference is. Sounds like it was a nice service for Shirley. Sandra
