SIGNS

Yesterday was a definite sign summer is here.

Claps of thunder woke me up this morning and the sky is gray.  Some places will be getting rain but not here.

Yesterday dad and I had a smooth journey to the hospital and even got parking.  Dad's doctor is Chinese and very kind and very young.  The P.S.A. is the sign of cancer returning and his number is up a bit so he will go back in three months if the blood tests keeps getting higher.

Visiting the 5 story nursing home was tricky as they have numbers to punch to get from one area to another.  The elevator works only if you push two buttons.  We were pleased to see Margaret looking better even though she has lost her hair.  She gets around in her wheel chair very well and her room is very homey with pictures from home etc.

She was a school teacher and you can tell from the way she talks she still has the way about her.
Her future is uncertain but right now she is building up her strength.
A lot of walking for dad to do but he coped well.  What a gift to be able to cheer another person up.
A sense of humor makes the visit fun.

Yes each of us has our own struggles and for me a holiday was freedom from routine and sitting in the garden reading.

Signs....you have a very creative imagination, Beth, to be able to come up with interesting titles and subjects for your blog. That is a neat sign at the library...a lot better than the generic ones we usually see.

That truly is a gift, to be able to go to the nursing home and bring some humour and cheer to those poor unfortunate souls who have to live there. I find them so sad....and it takes courage to go and visit someone who is in there whom you love...so hard to see them like that.

We were looking at used cars yesterday and are finding out those guys are shysters....we will either sell our van privately or keep it and buy new tires and repair a couple of things. I think the car dealer thought...oh boy, here comes an old lady and man and I can really make money here...little did he know, I researched the value of our van well, and know the value of the car we were looking at. I just wanted to downsize...but the van actually is much safer on the highways and we need that!

Had a close call coming home with a car that tried to pass me when oncoming cars were too close....I had to brake, honk at him and take the gravel shoulder...lucky I didn't roll, I was going 108kms...which is 8kms over the limit...yet we get idiots like that, who risk it all to pass. The oncoming vehicles, three of them, all took the shoulder too and boy did they honk too. The idiot pulled back in after he was almost ahead of me.
My friend, Susan, had the same thing happen to her yesterday. We have decided not to travel unless we have to until September.

How is your neighbour doing....I forget her name...she was confused and living at home...finally went to a nursing home.

How is Jane doing too? I hope you are home now Jane and recovering well. Prayers for your healing.

Have a wonderful day, filled with good reading on the deck,

Love, Nancy

Nice for you and Dad to do some visiting.

Not good that the PSA might be rearing its ugly head again.

A birthday card is on its way to you. However, the lady at the Post Office said it was too thick - and might not make it through the sorter/roller (whatever that is). It is just a normal card with a bit of ribbon/cord on one side making it a bit thicker. I'm hoping it will make it through the roller successfully and land on your doormat this Monday! :)

I will going back down to Guyana in August to see the lady there. Was hoping for her to get a visa to visit Canada, but that was turned down.

I will be down in Vancouver for Leah's baby shower on the 30th. Seems like there will be a big gang, which will be nice for Leah and Craig.

Love,

Rick
