SPIRITUALITY

Another lovely sunny day.  Dad finished cleaning up the leaves with the blower.  We are just beginning to work on that side of the yard.  We need dirt to fill in the hole that was dug to put in a new water line.  At least we accomplished some things today.

Our friends from church Pat and Bob invited us out to a restaurant for supper.  We have lost touch with so many friends there so it is good to get back in touch.  To me they show the real side of spirituality which is caring and thoughtful.

I am reading about an Indigenous scholars unique journey from the head to the heart of true spirituality.  He was a student at the residential schools and a founder of a First Nations University School of Canada.. He, , Blair Stonechild, believes that we all have a sacred heritage that we are called to share.

"Spirituality is a direct involvement and connection with all of life, from the lowest animal to all of nature that surrounds us.  "

Religion has been characterized by a belief system defined in written texts.  This is true of the Christian religion as well as others.  The good news that in Christianity there is now movement away from this external set of rules, which have left the heart unchanged, and allowed corruption to undermined faith.  We are coming into a time of vibrant spirituality that contributes to a faith that is Good news.

Spirituality becomes an adventure!

Now isn't that nice....Panteli is going to give you a hand in the yard! I wonder if he will come over to our house too? haha...just teasiing. But that is awfully nice of him.

A school friend, from grade school and I were just talking about spirituality. He is a professor of psycology...we both are 74 this year and were remarking on how well we have done....still alive..haha and still working although part time and still pretty healthy. 68 years ago we started grade 1 together. He too, believes in spirituality and faith but not religion. We had a good discussion about it. It seems more and more people are turned off religion because of all the dogma etc.

Now that was nice of your church friends to invite you out for dinner. Where did you go?

I was just thinking that 58 years ago five Ateah cousins got married and now there is just Carl and I left as a married couple. The others all passed away. There are two spouses left. So that makes four out of 10. oh dear! Well we may make it to our sixtieth yet!

Beth, I wanted to ask how Jane was doing? I saw where you mentioned that you had a long chat with her and it seems like things are not good. Poor Jane, she has been through a lot hasn't she? I hope things improve for her.

I bought an Easter Lily today for myself as a treat...don't often buy much for myself. Also bought one for our son's girlfriend, Shelley. They have been dating now for five months and she is just so good to him and to us too. A very kind person. They both are 55. Our son has been living alone for many years and hasn't had a realtionship for a long time...so it is as if an angel has come along for all of us. Shelley has three daughters and three grandchildren so we all have a new family now. We are gradually getting to know them all. so miracles can happen!

well I must make supper...not feeling 100% with this bladder infection. I never had one before and the pills seem to make my bladder painful. It wasn't painful before, strangely enough! oh well nearly done.

Have a lovely evening,
if you have a chance and like British crime stories watch the new Maigret series.

Love Nancy
