PAINFUL HISTORY

DSCN2650
Yesterday dad had a busy day working on his fence area again.  This was after we had our blood work down together.  The girl suggested we go out for lunch together but I explained we were being taken out by our son-in-law.

This is our minister with a few of our children.
They show him some of their family pictures.  This was special for mother’s day and afterwards the children gave all the mother’s a carnation.
I like communion being stressed as believers  or anyone who is present sharing a meal.  We believe that Jesus is present at this meal and because he one who  sustains life , we share the wine and the bread.  A time of thanksgiving.  The elements are shared with the bread of life being broken for a hurting world and the cup of wine poured out as a healing stream.  The important part is that all should be fed.

I am reminded that being a Christian is about sacrifice that means we sacrifice being right and always having to win!

I did not like the sermon in which it reminded us of the painful past of our spiritual history, where the good shepherd is turned into a powerful warrior who encourages the death of unbelievers.
Yes, this is a painful past that is religion that thinks it has the truth in the words and deeds of a cross that is turned into a sword.  The message was from a true story about a lady named Hypatia who was ahead of her time in many ways.  She theorized that the earth,  which is round,  orbits around the sun.  She lived in the late 4th century where there was great conflict between the pagans and the Christians.  Her father was the director of the Alexander Museum which would later be destroyed.

Her life would be ended by being stoned to death.  The message was that Christians have been guilty of great cruelty and violence.  How quickly people forgot the heart of the gospel message which is compassion and forgiveness and mercy.
This was taken from the movie Agora.

The world is beautiful and there are many paths but sadly there  is also pain and suffering.
Most of which we can do nothing about.

Even in our families we have trouble understanding each other sometimes.

P5111070Simone and  Lincoln already seems to have different personalities.  Both are doing what babies need to do which is find out all about life that is being lived around them. Both have amazing wise parents.  It was wonderful to see and hold them even for a few minutes.  Babies like to be active!

I have had a wonderful mother's day ending with supper out with dad and Panteli and watching Montreal win the hockey game!

Also I received very beautiful cards that I can read over and over and feel loved!  And my gift basket I was able to share!

Dad goes to the Cancer Clinic today  and we will drop by and see Howard and maybe pick up dads shoes from Sandra but first we have to get some Gas!

And how was your blood work? Did you check the results online? I wonder what lead your minister to choose that subject? Such a hard job finding something new every week to speak about. I survived my first day back at work. Had to drink coffee though to stay awake. Sandra

I enjoyed hearing about your church and the sermons Beth. What a delightful idea, to have the children bring photos and give flowers. I am so glad you are feeling better and able to go to church and enjoy your early morning walks.
I hope Larry's appointment goes well today.
Isn't that amazing that the babies already have different personalities? They are adorable...
We are off to run errands in the city today...
You and Larry have a great day.
Love, Nancy

No Mary and Simone are still here. We may see Mary today.

Both our blood work was excellent and we could check it on line.

A good sermon showing, I think, how there is nothing that stands between humans and god like organized religion can. No wonder the priests/Pharisees and scribes hated Jesus so much when he made this same sort of point!
