TIME

Happy Birthday Stephen!

I am happy I have caught up with all the birthdays.  Some times I am early (Stephen) and sometimes I am late (Lucas).  I hope Melina's card gets there in time!

Dad and I are planning to do some visiting today.

A friend from church is in hospital and on the same ward as Gunty.  I am taking Haiti for a short walk she seems to forget she has already had a walk with Kim.

I am reading a book called "Walking in the Dust of Rabbi Jesus" which I find helpful when reading the words of Jesus.

The writer sates that it is hard to over state the Jewish love of religious study.  They have long been know as people of the book (I wonder if this is still true for those who are political and have left their religion behind) for their fervency and fondness for study.

"Torah is often used as an affectionate reference to all of the Bible and Jewish writings.  What we translate as law Jews more correctly understand as "guidance" or "teaching".

"Making sense of everything is not an obligation or even a possibility.
Acceptance of mystery is an act not of resignation but humility."

The photo you posted of the trees and water is quite lovely. It looks like there are other paintings underneath that are nice too. Are they painted on tiles? The artist looks to be Tom Thompson.

Carl came home from the hospital yesterday....there was a bit of an accident where the tubing that was suctioning off the fluid from his pleura came off and air went into the pleura, which could introduce bacteria as well as air. TIt was like that most of the night...the doctor was very upset...so he came home with a months worth of antibiotics and instructions to head for the closest emergency room if he had more pain and difficuolty breathing..the danger is a collapsed lung and infection. Very careless nurses I would say for not checking this during the nights.

I saw a video that had a warning that the content may be disturbing...not thinking I clicked on it and it showed a young student ( a girl) with a backpack surrounded by Israeli soldiers with guns pointed at her...they were yelling at her and terrorizing her...she threw her backpack down and took all the papers out ( her schoolwork) ... suddenly one soldier shot her....twice. It shocked me and I cannot get that image out of my mind...it makes he dislike religion even more. I know there are atrocities on both sides of the Palestinian and Israeli people...but this will be in my mind forever. My faith will always be there...

How was Gundy? Is she hospitalized because of dementia and waiting for a spot in a nursing home? You are such a good person, Beth, visiting those who are ill.

Pacific air has once again reached Manitoba and it is going to rain, then get very cold over the next few days and that means a lot of ice on roads, parking lots and on the snow...which is very hard on the deer....It is rare that Pacific air makes it this far east. Thanks to El Nino.

Well have to go and get ready to teach music.....take care, my friend. It is so good to see you feeling better and getting out lots.

Love, Nancy

Carl (and you) are having such a hard time, it is so frustrating when those in charge
make mistakes or are not careful.

It is not an even situation in Isreal - imagine if the situation was reversed - how many
Palestinians would have died from airstrikes etc.

Religion is great??

We are having just a bit too much of our "Pacific air"

Take cae

Did you get tired out from your walk with Hati after lunch? At least the sun came out for a bit that was nice. I was able to have a bit of a visit with Randy before he went to bed at 4:00. I started on our income tax.

Sorry to learn that Margaret needs an operation, she has had such good health up to this point.Very interesting writing by both you and Nancy-Lou. We human beings are capable of great good but also terrible evil .Religion also can be used to inspire us to make life more joyful, compassionate ,concerned and caring etc. but also can become twisted to produce the inquisition, Jones town bigotry and oppression..thank-you for being people who are inspiring and encouraging to others . God bless you both. Jane,
