BRAVERY

Carol phoned to remind me about the man coming to talk about Lighthouses.  It was an amazing talk about the brave souls who took care of these high towers and kept the lights shining.  They were a symbol of hope as well as protection from the rocky areas.  We learn about how the lights were invented and went from candle to using prisms and glass etc..  The stories of the keepers of the light were of hardship and heroism with a few very funny tales as well.  These brave souls were not treated fairly imagine being fired because you took one day off to have an infected tooth fixed.  Years would go by with no time off.  Women wold be left alone while the husband took the boat to get groceries.

The pictures of all the different lighthouses and the story weather that would rage against the foundations was so powerful the waves would reach the top of the windows of the lighthouses.

Carol joins others going up to ask questions.  We think about Oliver and his experiences as a coast guard and his home in on the Island.  Looking forward to seeing him at Christmas.

I think that all of us in our own way are braver than we realize.

"May your dreams be larger than mountains (stronger than the most powerful wave) and may you have the courage to keep climbing and conquering your fears."

Carol and Kimberly came and picked me up and took me to go see the Christmas tree lighting at the city hall. Pretty tree, but kind of thought the turning on of the lights would have been more of a fan fare.

I have a dentist appointment Monday at 8:00am, I will pop by after if you guys are going to be home.

Take the kittens in today to meet their new families.

That would have been an interesting lecture to go to. Lighthouses seem to have a sense of mystery and intrigue about them. We have a book about the lighthouses of B.C. Now you have piqued my interest I will look it out and re-read it. thanks!

Another litter of kittens raised by Sandra and now ready to go to their homes. WOW, you deserve an award Sandra....how very kind and giving you are. That is the third good news story I have read this morning. The other two were about dogs were adopted from a rescue.

No carol singing at the Christmas tree lighting? We had quite a fanfare at the lighting of the Christmas tree at Winnipeg City Hall. The Sally Ann were there with their brass band and carolers along with dignitaries and speakers. We saw it on the news.

I am cooking turkey for supper...yes I am! BUT it is a turkey breast and wings that I bought at super store...just turkey parts. It is in the slow cooker now along with gravy, potatoes, carrots and parsnips...I have dressing to make later on. Easy meal. 20 mins prep and 7 hours to cook on low.

Save on Foods has moved into the Manitoba market. We always liked shopping at the one in Nanaimo. Was glad they have come here and will check it out tomorrow when Carl is having the infusion. Safeway and Sobeys merged last spring and I never shopped there anyway...too high prices...so it left an opening for a new store.

The infusion Carl receives comes with risks. They give him 100 mls of prednisone as well as a high dose of Benadryl to ward off any allergic reactions. They also have a crash cart there. They put in an IV and it takes 6 hours in total. He will be flying high on the prednisone for a couple of days...feeling great! But it wears off. It takes a week or so for the drug to relieve the rheumatoid athritis. He will be fine...this is his third time.

Glad to hear all is well with Jane. I too, missed her comments and hoped things were OK with them. Life can be so busy for us, even when we are retired!

Have a blessed Sunday, Larry and Beth,

Love, Nancy

Yes Sandra I will be home from my walk by then.
Can you drive okay.

Nancy praying for you and Carl to night for a good rest and to=morrow for the procedure to go well. Sounds a bit risky but relief from pain is so important.

We are fortunate to have good husbands and thankful for all that doctors and medicine can do.

Love Beth
