Dad already new the results of his P.S.A. so he knew the news would not be good. The cancer has become active again and dad will be back on the female hormones. We knew this was likely to happen although you always hope for good news.
He took the prescription from the doctor to the pharmacy at the hospital. We were told to come back in an hour so we drove to the White Spot for a bite to eat. We would miss a visit from the family on this day but we will see them soon. Good to hear they enjoyed a day at the beach.
Everyone at the cancer clinic has always been so kind and supportive. We were greeted by friendly faces even though we were a few minutes late. It was a surprise when we went to pick up his new meds. that the lady was so miserable cross examining dad about why He did not know his cancer number. Fortunately the other girl remembered him an after looking at his driver's license he got the prescription. They have their rules it would seem, but rules can be frustrating at times.
Again we are reminded about what matters in life.
Our moods change as we face what has to be endured and accepted. We are grateful for doctors and the wonder of medication.
New blooms appear daily to remind us of the good news of the goodness of all of life.
Sometimes it is hidden but when we look for it we will find it!

Wonderful news about his eye, for sure. It must be such a relief for you and your family. Health issues are such a worry especially when we get older. Always best to get things checked.
Germaine.
Well, I guess Dad can just hope that he does not have to stay on the hormones very long?
Another busy day at the beach then home to jump in the pool.

Good news about the eye , sorry to hear Dad is back on hormones . I go to the hospital in the next 6 weeks to remove the polyp from my stomach . I still have an nasty cough and don't feel the best . two more late shifts ( 1am finish ) then five days off . Kids have enjoyed their two weeks holiday . I would have liked to take them to the snow but it didn't work out , Melina and my shifts .
talk to you later
ken
Oh dear. Dad won't be happy about going back on the hormones. I guess the PSA had spiked quite a bit?
I think it was the MSP number they were after which is on the back of everybody's driver's licenses now (at least it is on the back of mine).
The doctor that did the gastroscopy in June is off until September (she might be sick herself). Anyway, I can go to the medical clinic for the results rather than waiting for her to come back so I'm trying to get an appointment for next week at the clinic.
The grass fire in Kamloops was near where I work but it seems it is all over now.
I will call on the weekend. I am continuing to feel poorly so I don't know if I will back in Vancouver before the wedding thing on Sept 1st.
Love,
Rick
YAY...I am sure Larry was relieved to get the news it wasn't cancer by his eye. That is such a nasty spot. Sorry to hear he has to go on hormones, it must give him unpleasant side effects.I hope he won't have to take them for too long.
One has to wonder at why a person has to be miserable to deal with...there is no need to be rude to customers. I find as a senior, I may not understand something right off the hop...or hear them correctly, especially if they talk quickly. Most often people are very kind and patient...like the bank employee I called today. She was amazing. I was in a jumble with our old joint account and auto payments and my own account and she sorted it all out! I am going to take her some of my art cards...I have talked to her a few times and she always is so kind.
But on the other side of the coin...
This happened to me at the lab at the hospital in Pine Falls...the lab tech treated me as if I was a pariah...how dare I come at 1pm on a Friday for blood tests ( yes there were quite a few of them ) when they wouldn't be sending the blood into Winnipeg until Monday...well how was I to know? The x-ray fellow, Troy, was very nice to me after she walked away and it made up for her rudeness.
Yikes a grass fire in Kamloops could be pretty scary. It always seems to be so dry there. glad they got it out.
I sure hope both Ken and Rick feel better soon. It is so difficult to work when you are not well.
It is 33C again today and tomorrow is supposed to be 35C with high humidity. Have to stay in the house with air conditioning.
The MRI was 40 minutes long...had to lie there as still as possible, all strapped in with noise cancelling head phones on...it was pretty hard because I felt like I was burning from the magnetic waves...in my abdomen and it was very hot in there. The clanging and banging and buzzing was so loud. But I did well they said...hope I don't have to do that again for a while!
It is a lovely day today...
Love, Nancy
Thanks for the comments.
Dad is thankful for the eye results.
The hormnon treatment could be for several months, maybe a year.
Tests are stressful but important.

I hope the hormones are effective and he doesnt have to be on them long. And good news about his eye. Cameron thinks he may have scratch his eye somehow. It's been aggravating him since we got home. Not sure if it was him opening his eyes under the lake water or when he semi poked his eye with his sunglasses driving home. He has been using some drops and if it doesn't clear up, we will head to eye doctor. It's hot here at home. And thunderstorms in the night. Barely cools us off before the sun clears the sky again.
We are eagerly awaiting my dads yard to be complete. He had a curb appeal company come in and redo the front and back. It is looking so beautiful and clean. Daisy will be excited for fresh grass to roll in. Hoping your week is going well. I'll be sure to check in and keep up with the blog. Any plans to celebrate your birthday??
