PREACHERS

The responsibility for hearing the still small voice is ours alone
                                  -John Thornton

The first character in the book of John is John the Baptist, the fiery preacher.  Like many great preacher he was marked out in childhood to be a preaching for his time.  Words of chastisements and judgment.  I am trying to feel what they were feeling.  He was passionate about the sins that were dragging people down and by baptizing them he set them free.  He knew that there was some one greater coming.  His words would pierce the hearts of his listeners.  He had great expectations that he would recognize the Messiah by the light of the Holy spirit on him.

He was a preacher for his time.

The first disciples heard John the Baptist say Jesus was the One he had been waiting for and immediately they wanted to follow Jesus,  Andrew filled with excitement hurried to tell his brother
Cephas and Philip would share the news with Nathanial.

If you not only read but enter into the story with your heart and your emotions it becomes new again.  At least for me.

My brother Brian and his wife Traudl called last night.  Brian is a great talker and could have been a preacher but instead lived out dad s dream to be a Mountie.  Their lives have changed with their many health problems but Traudl has kept her sense of humor.  I can hear the laughter in her voice as she tells of the prosthesis bursting in the dryer with a loud pop.  Even Brian saw the humor in it.  The problem was the drive to Cranbrook through the snow and winter conditions.  Just like Nancy and Carl.
Traudl was then fitted with knitted knockers which even had nipples sewn in.  Now that is funny.

They are trying to find the source of the blood  clots  that Traudl is still having so she takes meds for that and to prevent cancer and also for high cholesterol and high blood pressure.  Brian has sinus and asthma problems so has meds too.

I went for my walk and dad for a bike ride.  The sunshine was lovely but it was cold and a slight wind to add to the chill factor.

I appreciate a preacher who has a good sense of humor.

I believe a good preacher can have an impact of your soul revealing the goods within.

thank you for your kind words and prayer . everything went well at the ultra sound test although results are not yet available .A most pleasant girl administered the test and l did not have to wait around for any length of time.My cousin Elizabeth also offered to be with Geof and that was a great help. It is another bright cold day today .We go to sing along this morning and this afternoon we are off to the hair dresser .So it will be a full day . l am impressed with all your reading Beth and the thoughts it engenders . Your brother and his wife certainly have had some serious health problems. lts great that they can hold onto their sense of humour. all good wishes and love , Jane.

Oh boy, you sure made me laugh about the knitted knockers comment! Your poor sister-law and brother have had their health problems too, have 't they?

Where was your brother stationed...in towns in BC, BEth or did they move there after retirement? With Carl being in the Winnipeg Police Department we had quite a few friends who were in the RCMP.
Where do they live now?

So glad the test went well for Jane and her cousin was able to stay with her husband. Now for good news on the results, Jane.

Yes, thanks Beth for the spiritual writing....I especially like to hear the book of John.

It was a bitterly cold day to go to the city, but the highwys were good, except for the tons of salt they had put on for the ice the other day...it seeps into the car, especially when someone passes you and you end up with itchy eyes and skin that feels as though it has a coating of it.
It was the strong winds along with the -20C temperatures that made it so cold.

We have one of those small furnaces near out chairs in the living room and it is so nice and cozy to put it on.

Have to go and make a cuppa to warm us up too,

Love Nancy

Brian was posted in B.C
In Walley and the in Fort St. James and then to Courtney and Nelson.

He took early retirement when the family refused to live there in Nelson
because his teen-age sons were being bullied because their dad
was a cop.

In Ft. St. James the police office was right attached to the jail
so that was difficult too. He got along well with the natives
which was good.

Love beth
