HOME COMING

I had a quiet drive to the hospital
happy to be picking up dad, kept looking in my rear view mirror expecting to see cars ending up in the ditch to avoid me
He phoned free of pain and looking forward to
having a few eggs for breakfast and coming home.

His stay in the hospital was made worse because the man who was with him was contagious so he could not use the bathroom in his own room.  Just go in the ladies room next door the nurse said well dad did not want to do that.  The man was also becoming very talkative and dad wanted to come home.

But by the time I got to the door of the hospital he was having moderate to bad pain.  He has pills to take but he finds if he eats the pain starts again.

He had a long sleep after taking a pill but soon the pain was back.

The problem has not been solved and even if he has to have surgery it will be a long wait.

He enjoyed a visit with Carol and Panteli when they stopped here after their trip.  They sure did a lot of driving but where also glad to be coming home.

I am trying to feel hopeful knowing dad is at a vulnerable time and we could be back at the hospital at any time.

Surprise surprise Larry is home and looking well .l do hope that things can be kept under control and that he will be a good patient. My husband is a dreadful patient and will not do what doctors or l tell him. He thinks he knows best which he doesn't even though he was a very good doctor. He hates going to see any medical professional he was refusing to take off his clothes for a full physical the other day saying he didn't need to be seen by his ( glamorous ) physician .however he did comply after a bit of a fuss.He was pronounced physically pretty healthy good lungs heart and strength. It looks as if it is going to be another sunny day l hope you can both keep cool in your hide away under the trees .upstairs l know gets very hot. WITH HOPE AND CONTINUED PRAYER THAT ALL WILL BE WELL . LOVE JANE

That Larry...hamming it up while he is in the hospital! Nothing like a little humour while going through such a difficult time! Great photos.

They sure don't keep you in the hospital for long now, do they? I was surprised they sent him home while he still had so much pain and he didn't have surgery for the gallstones. I hope he is feeling better today.

Beth, you must be exhausted with all the stress of the last while. I hope you are just taking things easy today...there is nothing better than a good book and a cuppa, right?

We had a strong thunderstorm last evening, where the sky became black and green and we had to turn on the lights in the house...it was just after supper. I am sure a waterspout came off the lake because all of a sudden the rain became like a fire hose....I couldn't believe how hard it was....our driveways and yard were like a lake and we live on a hill. The winds were coming from all directions.

The song birds are starting to stage now. They come to the bird feeder in larger groups and their song is so lovely to listen too. All signs point to an early fall.I will buy some corn and beets at the farmers veggie store. The corn, I will freeze and the beets I will pickle.

It looks like we have lost our van. The insurance people want us to tow it to a mechanics garage and have them look at it to determine what caused the engine failure. It would cost in the thousands and it may be determined that we are at fault. We cannot pay that, so will just have to retire it. The Autopac, the insurer, refused to pay for the tow and mechanic...IF they are responsible they would pay after the fact....so we have to return the car rental and will be without a vehicle. Very disappointing. I am going to take the case to our Manitoba Ombudsman for insurance.

I hope you both have a good day, free of pain and lots of rest.

Love, Nancy

It makes wonder whose side the insurance companies are on -- whoops what am I saying - it certainly isnt the customer. Good idea - the ombudsman.

Good for Geof - we still must not let others push us around!!
