TICK TOCK

When we lived on Sea Island in our condemned army barracks dad and I would enjoy going into town  to see the Birk's clock which has now been replaced by a steam clock.

By he way Rick;   Daniel our minister was apart of that Jesus seminar that criticised the words of Jesus.  He said they did not go far enough in suggesting what affect it should have on the study of scripture.  He is very interesting and very well read.

The riots over an anti Muslim film are tragic.  Why do so many have guns?  Why don't they listen to the denial that the States are making about this anti Muslim film.  Why so much hate and violence\/

I know that there should be more respect for peoples religion and culture but this does not help/

The old ways have become a problem as conventional doctrines, practices and sense of identity are a frustration for many.  When I read words of scripture I try to see them with new eyes of understanding, this is because we are being told a new story about the message of the Bible which has raised for me challenges and questions.

A new vision of God, Jesus, spiritual practices and ethical issues are needed as I am being aware of as I read books like: "Jesus Interrupted."

Are we willing to experiment and be  create and be innovative to give new meaning to our lives and to find the secret truth that lies hidden in scripture.

For me it is important that we look into new insights of the foundation of our faith with imaginations and open and soft hearts as we search for new beliefs that call for new behavior and a continued sense of belonging.

This is a new day and hopefully we will be able to enjoy it, even in small ways.
