THE HEALER

JESUS, the healer, receives a healing anointing as Mary of Bethany poured precious perfume on his head. Her heart was soft and her love for Jesus was pure as expressed in her actions.

In our own lives we want a cure for the aches and pains of life and so we seek out doctors or herbs and vitamins; whatever we believe promises a cure. We question the inevitable sufferings part of the human condition that as we get older remind us that we will not live forever. The prayer language of the Jewish tradition speaks of binding wounds; which is an act we do physically, but prayer has a spiritual energy to also bind wounds. I am so blessed to have lived this long and to be able to express my thoughts in this way.

JESUS, has a very human side to his personality and he is continually drawn to those who are in pain. We all need to be touched and loved and cured and so we seek for things that we can do to keep healthy and to heal us when our bodies become weak with disease. If we are honest we will admit that we have in the past abused our bodies and we now have to live with the consequences. We have to be careful not to fall into hopelessness but to find new hope in what is attainable. Faith, as expressed in my Aramaic equivalency,an integrity of being rooted in a sacred life force. Faith is a gift waiting to be opened
or beautiful flowers to be enjoyed
and the promise of hope and healing.
